The Designation Comes First
A colour's history. An artwork yet to come.
A colour shaped by engineering. A sculpture awaiting its form. Some colours become inseparable from the machines that carry them. Others leave a quieter impression — defined by their restraint, their relationship with light and the era they represent. SILVER SURFER draws its inspiration from Metallic Light Grey, historic Bugatti colour reference 3411100100, listed for the EB110 in the 1993–1994 catalogue period. Unveiled in 1991, the Bugatti EB110 marked a defining moment in the return of the Bugatti name to high-performance motoring. Its carbon-fibre construction, quad-turbocharged V12 and distinctive design embodied an ambitious vision of automotive engineering. Against this backdrop, silver offers a different kind of presence: understated, technical and constantly changing with the light. SILVER SURFER takes that historic automotive colour beyond the automobile and reimagines its character as an original Jesmonite sculptural relief. The intention is not to reproduce the car, but to explore the colour itself — its metallic character, its relationship with light and its place within automotive design history. Within Wacky Walls, the colour becomes more than a reference. It becomes part of the artwork's permanent identity. Its designation is recorded within the Wacky Walls Designation Register and will never be assigned to another work. The physical sculpture will be created specifically for its acquiring collector. The colour has its history. The designation has its place. The sculpture awaits its moment. SILVER SURFER — One artwork. One designation. Forever.
